MVRail is a 7¼” gauge non profit club that provides train rides to the public on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month (excluding December 24th).

Opening time is 1pm to 4.30 pm, and a daily ticket is available for $6 per person, which provides unlimited rides. Children under 2 can ride for free, providing they are accompanied by an adult.

The railway has approximately 2km of track and an average ride takes around 15 minutes through the natural bush-land Wilfred Taylor Reserve, at Wheatsheaf Road Morphett Vale. Follow the signs from the Main South road along Wheatsheaf Road to the railway.

The club runs large scale locomotives including diesel and steam. The steam locomotives do not run on Fire ban days. All riding carriages are of gondola design for safety, and covered foot-wear is required.

Please be aware that Steam trains can emit hot sparks and steam at any time. MVRail advises that you do not wear best clothing when travelling on these trains.

EFTPOS is not available at our club – we operate on a cash basis only.
